Hydrophobic and Flame-Retardant Foam Based on Cellulose

A study aimed to prepare cellulose-based hydrophobic, lightweight, and flame retardant foam composites. Cellulose was activated by phosphoric acid followed blending with dolomite clay of different loading ratios. Gelatin/tannin as an adhesive system used a binder. solution the environmentally friendly silicone rubber (RTV) applied onto samples via spray-coating improve their water repealing performance, which explored investigating both contacting angle wettability time coated samples. Flammability characteristics, thermal decomposition, surface morphology, chemical structure treated untreated foams were investigated flammability test, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared. The fire retardancy composites optimized at low medium dolomite. Also, addition RTV improved hydrophobicity maintained loading.
